A Sign

December 2013

Greetings From Chris

 "A Sign..."

We decided to create some Christmas memories with our children in Indianapolis last weekend. We first went to the Children's museum. The biggest attraction during the month of December is the two-story Yule slide. The kids really enjoyed that. We went in the winter wonderland and watched an indoor snowball fight. We always finish up our visits there riding on the carousel. The whole museum was decorated so pretty for Christmas and we had a great time, but I left with a deep heart of sorrow. When we got into the car I told the kids that with all the festive Christmas stuff we saw in the museum there wasn't a single sign of Jesus. We proceeded to go to the Indiana State Museum and attend the showing of The Polar Express at the IMAX theatre. Wow! What an incredible movie to watch in 3-D! We really enjoyed it, but at the same time I came away again with deep sadness. The throughout the whole museum and the entire movie there wasn't a single sign of Jesus.

God says through the prophet Isaiah that "the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and he will be called Immanuel (God with Us)." Just down the road from us in the town of LaCrosse, we drove by a church on our way to Indy. They had a sign out front that referenced Psalm 100:4. "Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise." What a great sign! It was the only sign we seen all day! As I reflect on that day and the omission of Jesus in the midst of so many people celebrating "Christmas" that little church sign speaks volumes. I am a sign. I need to be a sign. Our world is lacking signs that point people to Jesus. My sign needs to be words and actions of thanksgiving and praise to my God and my Jesus for everything they have done for me! My gift to you this Christmas is my sign...I am nothing and could do nothing were it not for the Love of God and the sacrifice of Jesus. They are my every-thing. May God bless you this Christmas as you sign for him! Thanks for all your support! We truly appreciate you!

Blessings & Merry CHRISTmas,

Chris
