Greetings From Chris
"Rest"
Happy Labor Day! I look so forward to the changes of the seasons, but it is always hard to say goodbye to summer. I love the warm long days of summer. It is probably good that they do not last. I am not a man with hobbies, but thoroughly enjoy all the things that God has given me the opportunity to do. I love to work. If the days were always long I could wear out!
As I reflect on my journey thus far, I have never really had the opportunity to have a real job. I wouldn't change anything, but do admit that it has never been an easy journey. Working for someone else all these years and taking all these risks would probably been much less stressful and put us in a lot better financial place, but it would have been missing a very important element...Peace.
Labor Day is a day to celebrate our work, but to also step away from it. God gives us this example...in six days God created the Heavens and the Earth and on the seventh he rested. But setting aside a day to do no work is not the only rest God was inviting us too. God has used my journey and my work to give me ample time to spend alone with him. The more time we spend with him (enter his rest) the more peace we will have. Peace is the greatest salary we can earn. It is the best pension plan. It is the best return on any investment of our time. Jesus is the Prince of Peace and was sent to us by the King of Love, God because he loved us and wants us to rest in peace. Peace that is beyond human understanding. Peace that brings trust in the midst of turmoil, hope in the midst of despair. May God's Peace be with you as you spend time in his rest!
Blessings,
Chris
